Your Powerful Imagination
Are you connected to your inner power? For a time as a child, you probably believed you had superhuman powers. Your powerful imagination led you to places where you had ultimate power over your destiny. You were a superhero, you were magical, you had the ability to influence every aspect of life, even if only in your imagination.
With age, you can lose some of your magical confidence. And for good reason: when is the last time you tried to scale buildings like a superhero, or cast magical spells? Reality settles in, and you adapt to life as an adult human being. There are things to do, bills to pay, and obligations to meet. And with this adaptation, you sometimes lose your ability to recognize the magic and power you still possess. So you gravitate to the safety of what you know, what is comfortable, what is only above your safety net. You lose your connection to your power.
What do you see?
Imagine you are standing at the top of a cliff. What do you feel when you look out?
Are you enchanted by the amazing view, connecting with the world around you? Do you feel your youthful imagination awakening? Do you close your eyes and imagine you are a bird, taking flight from where you stand to take in the full expanse of the earth below?
Or do you feel fear bubbling up as you consider the height of the cliff, and the distance between you and the ground at the cliff’s base? As a result, do you stand far back from the edge and look for the ground beneath your feet? Maybe you want to take in the view, but your fear holds you back.
A Shift in Your Power Connection Begins
Have you reflected on your current state and thought, “I can do more than this. I AM more than this!” Do you feel like you are not on track with what you want to do, to achieve, in your life?
The feeling is often subtle, building over time, until the whispers grow so loud that they can no longer be ignored. Sometimes the feeling is recognized early in your adult life, and sometimes not until later, when you are transitioning to some other aspect of adulthood, such as parenthood, career changes, or retirement. Your desire for change in your life grows, and it begins to compete with the fear that holds your power in check. You begin to once again reconnect with your power.
Do any of these desires for change resonate with you?
- You want to do more with your life, whether in your personal life, your career, or your relationships
- You want to discover your true, authentic self
- You want to lead a more fulfilling life
- You long to reconnect with your powerful imagination
It’s at the point of acknowledging the desire for change that you oftentimes see yourself on the cliff. From there, you may see one of two views: the beauty and vastness of potential within your future, or the terrifying height that makes you dizzy with worry and lack of confidence. For most of us, it’s a combination of the two, and the second can cause difficulty (if not paralysis) in moving into our future selves.
Reconnecting With Your Power
Once you see your potential, how do you overcome what makes moving forward so hard?
A crucial component is recognizing your strengths. It’s an awareness of your power and what has brought you the successes you already have. You may spend so much time looking for your faults that you can easily miss your strengths. The more power and strength you recognize, the quieter your fear of change becomes.
Another crucial component, and this is challenging, is to see how you are blocking your own progress. It’s getting out of your own way. It’s recognizing how things like perfectionism, lack of self-confidence, and the fear hold you back.
Guidance Along the Way
If this was easy, we’d all be where we want to be, and we would all be good at connecting with our power. We all can use some support in overcoming the things that hold us back, especially when reconnecting with our power to move to our next steps.
Imagine having a skilled professional there for you as you navigate your way back to your power. Someone who holds space for you, guiding you in recognizing your strengths. A professional who gently assists you in uncovering your roadblocks, and supports you as you move past them. Someone who honors you as a whole person without judgement, and creates a safe space for you to explore, define, and achieve your goals. Sound good? Want to know more? Here is how it works.
